Kano Emirates Controversy: Appeal court overrules high court judgement, orders fresh trial

By our correspondent, Suleiman Garba

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has overturned the judgment of the Kano State High Court delivered by Justice Amina Aliyu regarding the Kano Emirate controversy.

The earlier judgment, relied upon by the Kano State Government to restrict Emir Aminu Ado Bayero and four other emirs from declaring themselves as traditional rulers, has now been nullified

The appellate court has directed that the case be restarted afresh at the state high court.

However, any dissatisfied party retains the right to appeal this latest ruling at the Supreme Court.
