Nasarawa NNPP, Others Form Coalition for Governorship Race

Four days to the Governorship and State Assembly Elections, four opposition parties in Nasarawa state have collapsed their structures into one in an attempt to strengthen the NNPP’s odds.

Speaking at a joint press conference on 14 March, 2023 at the NUJ press center in Lafia, the gubernatorial candidates of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), People’s Redemption Party (PRP) and Action Alliance (AA) cleared the air on the ongoing speculations that the candidates of these opposition parties have stepped down for the incumbent Gov. A. A. Sule ahead of the March 18 gubernatorial election in the state.

Speaking on their position and alliance, the NNPP Candidate, Alh. Abdullahi Maidoya Yakubu, said, “Any one of us is capable of dethroning the incumbent Governor, because for the period he is serving, the State recorded insignificant achievements and people already are tired with APC. But we want to beat him with wide margin, that is why we have decided to come together to form a strong alliance and salvage the State from misrule.”

Recall that last, the LP led a coalition of 4 other parties to throw their weight behind the PDP candidate, David Ombugadu. They also believe that they gave their support to the person most likely to win and capable of transforming their ideas and vision for the state into reality.
