Nasarawa West APC Senatorial Primary: Court to hear contempt proceedings.

Justice Afolabi sitting at the Federal High Court, Lafia, Nasarawa State has ordered the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) Senator Abdullahi Adamu, to conduct a fresh party primary in the Nasarawa West Senatorial District within 14 days.

The court handed down the order in a suit filed by Barrister Labaran Shuaibu Magaji against Arc. Shehu Ahmed Tukur, INEC, Abdullahi Abbas, Bar. Musa Salihu and John D. Mamman

Others joined in the suit are Alh. Yakub Muhammed Soja, Yusuf Adamu Auta, Maj. General A. T. Jibrin (Rtd), Princess Miriam Onuoha, the APC National secretary Iyiola Omisore and the APC National chairman Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

The matter however took a dramatic turn as the respondents did not conduct a fresh primary within 14 days as directed by the Court. Already a committal proceding has commenced before the court with a notice of consequence of disobedience to court order form 48.

Part of the order reads: “Unless you obey court order of Justice N. J. Afolabi delivered, 2nd Nov. 2022 which ordered the APC to immediately conduct a valid primary election with the authentic delegates list for Nasarawa West Senatorial District within 14 days and to give all aspirants adequate notice as to time and venue forth with, you will be guilty of contempt of court and be liable to be committed to prison”.

Further hearing in the contempt of court proceedings has been fixed for tomorrow Wednesday 23, November 2022.
