Operatives of the anti-kidnapping unit of the Bayelsa State Police Command have arrested three suspected kidnappers in their hideout while the suspects were reportedly negotiating to buy an AK-47.
Police spokesman in the state, SP Asinim Butswat, said in a statement on Saturday that police detectives raided the abductors’ hideout at Biogbolo community in Yenagoa, the state capital, following a tip-off.
He disclosed the identity of the suspected criminals as Emmanuel Ebisco, Williams Zikena, and Ekparola Okumo.
He said operatives of the police recovered one 9mm ammunition; a red Toyota Camry with mutilated number plate and N1 million cash from the suspects.
Butswat said, “The suspects; Emmanuel Ebisco ‘m’ 38 years, Williams Zikena ‘m’ 39 years, Ekparola Okumo ‘m’ 35 years, were arrested at their hideout at Biogbolo community, Yenagoa, following a tip-off that they wanted to procure an AK-47 to carry out a kidnap.
“The suspects have volunteered useful information and are assisting the Police in its investigation. They will be charge to court at the conclusion of investigation,” he added.
