RE: Calls to Declare for Party National Position – Ombugadu says he is a loyal Partyman

Reacting to various calls by partymen and supporters in the PDP for him to contest for the chairmanship of the party, Dr. David Ombugadu said in a statement he personally signed that he is a loyal partyman who would respect the position of party leaders at all times.

In the statement, Ombugadu said “I have observed that different groups within our party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have declared their support for me to be given a responsibility at the national level but in as much as I have a lot to offer and have always responded to clarion calls by the people to serve in different capacities, I’ll like to inform the general public that though my hat is not in the ring, I have heard your voices loud and clear but have not succumbed to the calls to run for chairman of our party and I know many will be disappointed. However, let me restate that when duty calls for me to undertake any other assignment for our party, I will not hesitate to serve.”

“Suffice to say that I remain loyal to our party and its leadership at all levels.”

He observed that the triggers for this call could be “our creativity, stamina, innovation, zest and dividends of democracy that our mandate deposited all over Nasarawa state via the good people of Akwanga/Nasarawa Eggon/ Wamba Federal Constituency between 2011-2019 and the gubernatorial ticket of Nasarawa state in 2019 and 2023.”

He restated that the PDP is an organic, organised, and structured political party that believes in the principle of federal character, justice, equity, and fairness in Nigeria and that the calls are in line with the people-centric constitution of PDP emphasizing that “the PDP is a great party, and I believe strongly that such calls were borne out of patriotism and love for democracy.”

Ombugadu thanked everyone who made the various calls and urged them to keep hope alive because surely a better future is possible for the party even under the present circumstances. “I’m a strong believer of time and chance, but I also believe in the counsel of God almighty for direction.”

Ombugadu’s statement concluded by restating his appreciation to, the contributions of the BOT, NWC, NEC, State governors and state chapters, LGA and ward level members and executives of the PDP especially the Nasarawa state PDP for standing with and by us to victory at the last polls as what transpired eventually, is left for posterity to judge.”
