Rumbles in APC as Gov Battles ex Godfather over Sale of Properties

A renew war of who controls the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC in Nasarawa state as loyalists of ex Gov Tanko Umaru Almakura meet to tackle Gov AA Sule.

An insider who attended a midnight meeting at Abuja, Tuesday informed that about twenty two loyalists (G22) of ex Gov Almakura have resolved to fight back.

The G22 comprises some former Commissioners, Special Advisers, Federal and state lawmakers still loyal to former governor Almakura are currently in Abuja to map out war strategy against the imbattle Gov Sule.

A brewing rift between Gov Abdullahi Sule and his predecessor, Sen Tanko Almakura was averted at the peak of 2022 when the later wanted to run for the national chairmanship of the ruling APC against ex Governor, Sen Abdullahi Adamu.

Sen Almakura who brought Gov Sule into power, felt betrayed midway into the chairmanship race when Gov Sule dumped him for Sen Adamu.

A source who attended the Tuesday night meeting in Abuja further revealed that the G22 also felt their boss(Almakura) was lately dropped from the President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet due to a secret deal Gov Sule went into with Aso Rock Villa new power cabal.

Anxiety in the state chapter of the ruling APC was burried at the peak of the Governorship Election Petition Triibunal in which the opposition PDP is challenging the declaration of Gov Sule as the winner of the March 18th governorship election.

However, the issue was raised Tuesday at the chambers of the Nasarawa state House of Assembly thus prompting a probe team by loyalists of Gov Sule against his estranged godfather, Almakura.

Consequently, the state lawmakers had quickly dispatched an adhoc committee to Lagos to unearth the shaddy deals Sen Almakura had allegedly entered into in the sale of the state Liason office in Lagos while he was the governor between 2011-2019.

The state House of Assembly has set up a nine-man ad-hoc committee to investigate alleged sales of government properties in Lagos and other states by the then sdministration of Sen Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.

 

Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the Speaker of the House, announced the probe after Hon. Mohammed Adamu Omadefu, the Majority Leader of the House, brought the issue under the matter of Public interest during the House proceedings in Lafia, the state capital, on Tuesday.

 

The Speaker urged the committee to immediately proceed to Lagos to begin its investigation on the alleged sales of Nasarawa State Liason office in the southwestern state.

Further investigation from Abuja revealed that the war against Gov Sule by ex Gov Almakura is being anchor by the APC elements who lost a return ticket in the 2022 APC primaries for the State House of Assembly, National Assembly and Commissionership slots in Sule’s cabinet.

They include Sen Godiya Akwashiki, the former Representative of Lafia/Obi, Hon Dr Haruna Kigbu, ex NSHA Awe1, Hon Tanko Tunga, and a host of other agrieved Almakura’s boys.

They believe Gov Sule was paying his estranged godfather, Sen Almakura in bad coins.

“This is not how to reward a godfather. Even if we must be retired from politics, there should be decorum!”, the source laments.
