Withdraw Your Mischievous Communique: ADA Tells Tiv Dev. Assoc.

The leadership of the Alago Development Association, ADA in Nasarawa State has expressed regrets at the content of a purported communique earlier issued by the Tiv Development Association as outcome of their meeting held early November this year.

Chairman and Secretary of ADA Martin Audu and Jibrin Dan Ogaji respectively, claimed in a statement that the said communique was of doubtful origin since it did not contain key components of the meeting.

It recalled that arising from the said meeting between Alago Development Association (ADA) and Tiv Development Association (TIDA) the Alago Development Association (ADA) in considering the communiqué observed that, the reasons for the meeting and resolutions by the two associations were not reflected in the communiqué.

The statement said that the crux of the matter was the incessant letters written to His Excellency the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule by the Tiv People accusing the Alago Nation of denying them of their ancestral home.

“Furthermore, the Tiv people castigated our traditional rulers as well as Alago elites of conniving and arming Fulani to eliminate them from Nasarawa State. This denigration of our revered traditional rulers, sons and daughters, was a major issue that the Alago Development Association (ADA) contested and asked that it must be withdrawn and was not reflected in the communiqué”

ADA leaders described the communique under reference as ahistorical, baseless, untruth, especially claims in of the letters written to His Excellency by the Tiv people that the names of Tiv villages were replaced with Alago names.

This they frowned at insisting it is pre posterious reason why the meeting in question agreed that such must be withdrawn and apologies tendered in relevant national dailies and social media, another fact it claimed was not reflected in the communiqué as the common wisdom and mutual goodwill that the two Associations agreed as the essence and outcome of the meeting.

Leaders of Alago Development Association (ADA) therefore have resolved to distance themselves from the purported communiqué arising from the meeting of 22/11/2021, until all issues are mutually agreed upon and consented to at any further meeting.

Recall that some members of the ADA had easier this week urged its leadership to stop forthwith any discussions outside the purview of their mandate which is to ensure a constitution for the body and prepare it for elections only.
