Tragedy struck the peaceful village of Obosidoma in Keana Local Government Area on Tuesday as a middle-aged woman fell victim to a horrific attack by Fulani herdsmen. Eyewitnesses at the scene recounted the chilling events that led to the untimely demise of the woman.
According to eyewitness reports, the woman had gone to fetch water at a nearby river when she encountered two Fulani herdsmen emerging from the bush. Initially, it seemed like a harmless request for water, but the situation quickly turned dire.
“They asked her for water to drink, and when she turned to leave after providing them with water, they mercilessly attacked her from behind,” one eyewitness stated.
In a brutal and cowardly act, the assailants viciously severed the woman’s neck, leaving her lifeless body in a pool of blood near the river.
“The culprits fled the scene, leaving behind a trail of horror. Despite their attempt to escape justice, the locals have identified them, and efforts are underway to bring them to justice,” a resident of the village revealed.
The heinous nature of the crime has left the community in shock and mourning. Many are calling for swift action from law enforcement to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure that justice is served.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer was unavailable for comment, leaving many questions unanswered.
“We demand justice for our sister who was brutally murdered. The perpetrators must be brought to book,” a family member of the deceased urged.
As investigations into the incident continue, the community remains on edge, grappling with the aftermath of this senseless act of violence.
