Deploy adequate personnel to Nigerian roads during Christmas period, SGF orders FRSC

The Secretary to the government of the federation, Senator George Akume has directed the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC to make adequate deployment of personnel and Logistics to check road congestion and ensure the safety of road users across the country during and after the yuletide.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, General Services Mr Maurice Mberi, Akume gave the directive in Abuja during the Fourth Quarter Corps Marshal strategic meeting with Sector and Zonal commanding officers with the theme “Strengthening Strategies for a Safe Festive Season”.

Senator Akume while acknowledging the critical role of FRSC in ensuring swift response to traffic rules violations and incidents urged the Corps to strengthen collaboration with other agencies in checking the excesses of motorists and bring the “One Chance” menace to an end.

He commended FRSC for the deployment of digital tools for monitoring and enforcement of traffic laws which he believes has improved efficiency of personnel on the highways.

Senator George Akume assured that the Federal Government would continue to remain steadfast in its support of FRSC towards achieving President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Earlier, Corps Marshal of FRSC Mallam Shehu Mohammed said the strategic meeting was to enable the Corps prepare adequately for the end of the year special operations.

Mallam Shehu Mohammed stressed that the commanding officers are expected to remove obstructions and ensure effective traffic management in the country.

The FRSC Boss assured the motoring public that the corps would not leave any stone unturned in complimenting the federal government’s huge investment in making roads safer for socio economic activities in the country.

The Nasarawa State Sector Commander of FRSC, Lucie Samud-Mhii said adequate senzitization had been carried out including town hall meetings with stakeholders at the local levels on road safety tips to reduce accidents during the Ember Months.

All the commanding Officers expressed believe that with the support received so far from the FRSC Headquarters, the strategies put in place would reduce road accidents and ensure prompt response to emergencies during the festive season.
