Panic, apprehension in Lafia over assassination of 37 years old AEDC Staff

A 37 years old staff of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company AEDC, Yusuf Ibrahim Kasimu has been brutally murdered at the Tudun Kauri area of Lafia, Nasarawa state.

The incident City post gathered occured on Wednesday, leaving the residents of the area in shock and panic as they woke to the chilling discovery of the lifeless body of Yusuf Ibrahim Kasimu,who believed to have been killed by suspected assassins who also made away with his motorcycle.

Our correspondent learnt in Lafia that the AEDC staff was found lying face-down in a pool of his blood, with his head brutally bludgeoned, indicating that he was targeted and violent attack.

incident happened near the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office and close to the Nasarawa Broadcasting Service (NBS), left the local community in shock and fear.

Kasimu, an official of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), an eye witnesses said he may have been lured by individuals posing as people in need of help, only to be attacked, killed, and robbed of his motorcycle under the cover of darkness late Tuesday night.

The victim’s identity was initially unknown until his relatives arrived and confirmed his identity as Yusuf.

Reacting to the gruesome murder of Yusuf, his uncle, Umaru Kasimu, condemned the heinous act and called on security agencies to rise to the challenge by fishing out the perpetrators of the dastardly act to face the law

“This is a tragic and senseless loss. We demand justice,” he said.

Contacting the spokesman of the police command, SP Ramhan Nansel on the incident, the PPRO said the Command was yet to receive official report on the matter, but however assured that the command will launch a full-scale investigation.

“We are yet to be briefed, but the command will ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice,”

Some residents who spoke on account of anonymity, expressed concern about the rising spate of crimes and criminally adding that the increase was becoming a source of concern.

“The police are doing their best but more efforts have to be step up to tackle the rising scourge of crimes in our environment”.
