Police in Nasarawa State Command has foiled trafficking attempt in Mararaba, rescuing three children and arresting a female suspect.
The Nasarawa state command, in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the suspect, identified as Aisha Hashiru, was arrested by members of the public at Orange Market while trying to abduct three minors.
Aisha Hashiru, was escaped being lynched when operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Mararaba ‘A’ Division swiftly intervened, rescuing both the children and the suspect.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had sneaked into the home of one Ramatu Auwal and abducted her three children. During interrogation, she confessed to luring the minors with promises of biscuits.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Mohammed, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Lafia, for further investigation.
He also ordered intensified efforts to track other cases of missing children and strengthen the command’s fight against human trafficking.
