The Paramount Ruler of the Tiv nation, Orcivirigh Prof James Ayatse, has called on President Bola Tinubu to consider the construction of federal roads in Benue State which were approved by the Federal Government and only waiting contract award for execution.
The Tor Tiv made this appeal at Ihugh, Vandeikya Local Government Area (LGA), during the commissioning of NITDA/Renewed Hope Initiative Community IT Centre (named Lucy Zaiyol Aluor IT Center) by the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu on Tuesday.
The Tor Tiv who applauded the President over the ongoing construction of the River Buruku Bridge, said the roads which should be looked into included the Makurdi-Gboko-Katsina Ala-Zaki Biam, Gboko-Ihugh-Tse Mker, Gboko-Aliade, Makurdi-Naka-Ayangba and Adikpo-Ajio-Koti-Iyon (Ajio-Ada-Ikyogen) roads.
He further hailed the cordial working relationship between President Tinubu and Governor Hyacinth Alia, saying it has given rise to many benefits including the renewed fight against insecurity, and the relative peace in the State.
Ayatse, who is also the Chairman, Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers, commended the First Lady for her visit to personally commission the projects describing it as a demonstration of her motherly love for Benue State.
He also recalled that out of love for the state, she had visited earlier to commiseration with the state after the Yelewata genocide.
The Tor Tiv appreciated her and NITDA for the Community IT Center saying it will expand and enhance information technology literacy, empower and promote socio-economic development for the teaming youth and women population in the state.
He also acknowledged that the center will curb youth idleness and it’s resultant negative effects in the land.
Tor Tiv expressed gratitude to Governor Hyacinth Alia for his support for the establishment of the centre stating that it will be beneficial to the newly established University of Agriculture, Science and Technology Ihugh.
He further encouraged the establishment of more of such IT Centers in other parts of the state for greater effects.
