The leader of the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents, Abubakar Shekau, has been reportedly killed by the armed group suspected to be members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP).
Shekau was said to have been killed by ISWAP during a fierce gun battle in Sambisa Forest on Wednesday.
Sources revealed that the terrorist leader was not actually or directly killed by ISWAP but blew himself up and committed suicide when ISWAP attempted to capture him (Shekau) alive, during a gun duel.
However, there was no official statement or confirmation on the death of the most wanted terrorist leader by the Nigerian security forces as of the time of writing this report, as millions of Nigerians took to their social media platforms in the early hours of Thursday to celebrate Shekau’s death.
Sambisa Forest shares local border with parts of Bama, Konduga, Gwoza Askira Uba, and Biu Local Government Areas of Borno State, with some parts of Gujiba, Buni Yadi, Goniri in Yobe State, and Madagali in Adamawa State.
