Bandits kill four, injure three in Bauchi communities

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have killed four persons and injured three others in the Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

It was gathered that the affected communities in Alkaleri are Tudun Wadan ADA and Old Jamari Sabuwa Garin Jauro Bano.

Residents were said to have raised the alarm upon sighting the bandits who were on a mission to abduct some persons in the area.

But on seeing youths had mobilised, the gunmen reportedly fled and abandoned their victims.

However, in the middle of the confusion, four persons were killed while three others were injured as the bandits attempted to escape.

One of the residents, who pleaded anonymity, said the attackers arrived in the communities around 11:45 pm on Thursday.

“They came on motorcycles and when people raised the alarm they started shooting sporadically and fled to the bush after they killed four people,” he stated.

He said further that security personnel including the Police and the Nigerian Army have visited the communities to douse tension

Bauchi police spokesman Mohammed Ahmed Wakil did not pick calls or reply texts when contacted.
