Breaking! How NASS Defies Commission, Violates Mandatory 3 Months Pre Retirement Leave

In a fragrant disregard to established civil service guidelines, the Management of the National Assembly Management under the chairmanship of the Senate President, Sen. Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan has grossly violated the Civil Service Commission Rules.

The management of the lawmakers has broken the laws they made to guide the procedure through which a public servant should exit from service.

By Civil Service Commission established rules, a worker must undergo a three months mandatory pre retirement leave after which he/she vacates office having served for thirty five years or attained sixty years by age whichever comes first.

However, this is not the same with the current the 9th National Assembly under Sen. Lawan and Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila.

The gross violation of this guideline is brewing internal crisis within the National Assembly Service management as the top hiararchy have grossly defied the provission.

The Clerk of the National Assembly, Arc Olatunde Amos Ojo whose retirement is due next November is currently on an international official assignment in Canada just as he handed over to the Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly, DCNA, Barr Bala Yebani who is supposed to be preparing for a similar civil rights.

Besides the DCNA, other members of the Top Management team expected to proceed on terminal leave this year include: Mr Michael Opara (June), the Secretary, Human Resources and Staff Development, Mr Abiodun Suraj (October), the Secretary, Research and Information, Hajiya Rhamatu Ahmed (November), the Clerk to the National Assembly, Architect Olatunde Amos Ojo (November) and the Deputy Clerk (Legislative), House of Representatives, Alhaji Fatai Jimoh.

 

All entreaties to get the top management of the legislature to respond to this fragrant abuse of the Civil Service Commission established procedure has failed.

In addition to fragrant abuse of the civil service the clerk on his travel leave has handed over to Barr Bala Yabani the current Deputy Clerk to National Assembly who is supposed to have gone for terminal leave since August 17 ,2022 ., amongst other infractions in the National Assembly service
