How LP distributes free governorship, senatorial forms to Aspirants in Nasarawa

Labour Party loyalist to the Barr. Julius Abure’s camp in Nasarawa state has commenced the distribution of free expression of interest and nomination forms intending aspirants in the state.

The Nigeria PIlot gathered that all positions in the 2027 general elections context to included Governorship, Senatorial, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly expression of interest and nomination forms have been distributed.

Chairman of Labour Party in the state, Alexander Ombugu made the disclosure during a press briefing at the party’s secretariat on Friday in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

According to him, the party under the Barr. Julius Abure’s camp decided to issue the free forms to intending aspirants as a way to cushion the effect of the economic hardship on them.

He narrated that the gesture was also a way to give the intending aspirants the opportunity to contest for the various elective positions, notwithstanding their current financial status.

Ombugu affirmed that as the authentic state Chairman of the LP, it was necessary to field candidates ahead of the 2027 general election despite the pending leadership tussle involving Barr. Julius Abure and Senator Nenadi Usman.

He said, “I have the mandate which has been given to us, a mandate to fill in our candidates and we are doing our best to do what the national chairman said to us. So with me, I will present this forms free of charge to all our aspirants without them paying any money.

Ombugu, therefore called on politicians with proven integrity to come forward to get the forms as soon as possible, so as to fill them and submit within the INEC’s stipulated time, further revealed that primaries for the party will take place from May 27th to 29th, while assuring that the process will be credible and rancour-free.

Speaking on the forthcoming By-election in the Nasarawa North Senatorial District slated for June 20, 2026 by the Independent National Electoral Commission, Ombugu noted that May 25th has been fixed for the party’s primary election in order to produce a candidate for the zone.

Speaking earlier, Labour Party governorship aspirant in the state, Ibrahim Afaka, who hails from the Nasarawa LGA of the state, vowed to do everything within his powers to end unemployment and insecurity if he is given the opportunity to serve the state during the forthcoming election.

He further lamented that the All Progressives Congress led administration in the state had completely failed since the party took over leadership, and assured that he was coming to make a positive change in the state, not for his personal benefits.
