Siege on Campuses: Gunmen abduct Ambrose Alli University Don, demand N18m

Daredevil gunmen have abducted Professor Osadolor Odia, a lecturer at the Ambrose Ali University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State.

Odia, a Professor of Engineering and former Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering was abducted on his way to the farm in Egoro, Ekpoma, in Esan West Local Government Area on Thursday morning, April 29.

A source, pleading anonymity told Tribune that the abductors had made contact with the family demanding for a ransom of N18 million.
“I can confirm that Odia was kidnapped today on his way to the farm and a ransom of N18 million was demanded by the kidnappers,” the source said.

Or recent times there been increase in school abduction and kidnapping involving both lecturers and students in many parts of the country.

It would recalled that students I’d the Greenfield University in Kaduna state were recently abducted with an 800m ransom place for their release. In the continuing saga, some students have been reported to have lost their lives.
