NSHA to contractors - Execute market projects according to specifications, hails Gov. Sule for investing in market development

Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has urged contractors handling market projects across the state to ensure that projects are executed according to specification

This is even as the law makers have commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for invested in market development in the State.

Hon. Ibrahim Abdullahi Sa’ad, the Chairman, House Committee on Capital Market, Commerce and Industry gave the warning when the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment appeared before the committee on its 2024 budget performance today in Lafia.

He said that the oversight is to assess the budget performance of the ministry for the year under review.

” Mr Speaker has directed us to go on oversight to MDAs in order to assess their 2024 budget performance. This is part of our constitutional mandate, hence the need for this exercise”

The committee chairman said that the construction of markets across the State would enhance economic growth and boost the standard of living of the people.

“This will boost the socio-economic activities and the revenue base of the State as well create more employment opportunities in the state” he said.

Hon. Sa’ad assured of his continued commitment to support the ministry to succeed.

” I want to assure you that we will continue to support and partner with you for market development in the state. Let’s continue to synergize for the overall development of markets and the state at large” he said.

He said that the committee would embark on an oversight visit to ongoing construction of markets across the state to ensure that right things are done.

Besides, he urged contractors handling various market projects in the state to adhere strictly to their project specifications.

Hajiya Khadijat Nuhu Oshafu, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment appreciated the committee for giving adequate attention to the ministry to succeed.

She thanked Gov. Sule for the construction of modern and other markets across the state.

The Permanent Secretary disclosed that five markets are under construction currently in the state.
