The top contender for the seat of Benue-South Senatorial District, Dr David Olofu has doled out the sum of N10 million as scholarship to another set of 100 students of Benue South Senatorial District studying various courses in tertiary institutions in the country.
The Philanthropist and politician said it was aimed at fulfilling his desires to enhance human capital development of his people.
Recipient of this generous largesse, hailing from all the nine local government areas of Benue South, shall each receive a stipend of N100,000.00, courtesy of Dr Olofu’s philanthropic Organisation, Apa Legacy And Sustainability Initiatives.
The initiative is a continuation of his previous endeavours, which saw the disbursement of similar funds to indigent students in the preceding year, thereby cumulatively benefiting not fewer than 200 students to the tune of N20 million over the past two years.
It I worthy to note that Dr Olofu’s humanitarian endeavors are multifaceted and far-reaching, as he recently empowered over 100 rural women, predominantly widows, with grants of N200,000 each to bolster their entrepreneurial pursuits.
Our correspondent reports that Olofu endowed the sum of N10 million at the St. Helen’s Specialist Hospital, Otukpo to cater for the medical expenses of all pregnant women from Benue South Senatorial District irrespective of religious, political, tribal or social inclinations.
In a statement he issued to newsmen, the philanthropist cum politician said the geature were part of expression of his gratitude to the society that has nurtured him, and a demonstration of his unwavering commitment to the development of his people.
The beneficiaries of the 2025/2026 scholarship include Elijah Onazi Ubah, Jane Enotse Otsepa, Otse Bishop Ogenyi, Joseph Okibe Osiroko, Thankgod Ogaba Ogorri, Flourish Daniel Ogaba, Grace Orinya Agbaji, Grace Ogoo Okpali, Abba Edwin Agbo, and Esther Ikhodie Ogbu all from Ado Local Government Area (LGA).
Those from Agatu LGA are Ruth Sunday, Vivian Omeyi Akatu, Gloria Ngbede, Emmanuel Oche Shaibu, Ankeli Dominion Ojema, Goodness Echechofu, Joel Adole Usman, Bako Ocholongwa, Joy Odaliko Aboh, Solomon Baba, Gideon Obiabo Aniel, Ene Mary Barnabas, Emmanuel Sarduana, Ruth Omojo Musa, and Ojotu Joseph Mohammed.
In Apa LGA, Esther Abu, Isaiah Michael, Emmanuel Abraham, Emmanuel Ochume, Faith Adah, Eche Ochofie Joel, Vera Ocholoda Oigocho, Imanche Emie Eche, Muhammad Amir Muhammad, Ngbede Samuel Abel, Inalegwu Sale, Onehi Favour Michael, Sunday Thomas Angbulu, Ikwuta Okaula Adah, and Oyilonye Miracle Ali.
Other beneficiaries also include 10 persons from Obi LGA; Gloria Umume Odeh, Okwepa Abraham Igor, Mathias Idoko Ogbor, Ernestina Iyobaorella Mark, Dennis Eru Ate, Thankgod Aleje Ajina, Adiya Miracle Iji, Queen Eke Ogah, Janet Inori Ibekwu and Sunday Ogor Oko while 50 other students also benefitted, with 10 each from Okpokwu, Ogbadibo, Oju,
Otukpo and Ohimini LGAs respectively.
