On Tuesday January 27, 2026, Plateau State and its neighbors paused to witness history. Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s grand reception into the All Progressives Congress (APC) was more than a political milestone, it was a declaration of unity, hope, and a new chapter for Plateau and the Middle Belt which will go down in history as a defining moment.
The event, held at the popular Jos Polo field, etched in Plateau’s annals, drew thousands from far and near, symbolizing a region hungry for progress as the people hailed Governor Mutfwang, as the “New Captain of the Middle Belt; who embodies a vision of inclusive governance and development.
Perhaps, Governor Mutfwang’s realignment with the APC and President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda signals a potent collaboration for not Just Plateau’s growth, but the entire Middle-Belt Region, which recently felt some sigh of relief under the Tinubu administration.
Beyond the euphoria, this realignment promises tangible benefits. Mutfwang’s APC membership will fast-track federal projects and investments in Plateau, resolving regional challenges and fostering Middle Belt solidarity. There’s potential for an influx of investments, infrastructure, and job opportunities. His leadership will also amplifies Plateau’s voice nationally, pushing for priority projects and resources.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang while speaking at the event explained, that his decision and the realignment with the APC was driven by Plateau State’s collective interest and the need for strong federal collaboration to accelerate development, reaffirming his commitment to peace, unity, and sustainable growth.
Soon after Governor Mutfwang’s speech, President Bola Tinubu, who was represented by his Vice Kashim Shettima, broke the biggest News many have been waiting for when he announced that the Akwanga-Jos road project, which Mutfwang had been lobbying for since taking office, will kick off in the next 3 weeks, with contractors mobilizing to site soon.
The cheering news serves as confirmation and testament to Governor Mutfwang’s commitment to
people-centered governance toward harnessing APC’s clout for the state’s progress.
On the other hand, Political pundits however believe, that the strategic induction of Governor Caleb Mutfwang into the APC by President Bola Tinubu is a deliberate calculated political maneuver which marks a significant move for the party and will reshape the political landscape of the Middle-Belt.
As the spiritual capital of the Middle-Belt, Plateau holds immense political weight, and Mutfwang’s track record of inclusive governance positions him as a strong leader for the region. His ability to unite diverse voices within Plateau and the entire Cultural Middle-Belt enclave enhances his potential to steer political direction effectively in the coming 2027 elections, making this alliance a pivotal moment for the APC and the Middle-Belt electorate.
As Plateau State unites beyond politics to embark on this new journey, the people of the Middle Belt are filled with hope and anticipation. With Governor Mutfwang at the helm, steering the ship of progress and unity, the future looks brighter than ever.
The Akwanga-Jos road project is just the beginning; a symbol of what’s possible when leadership, opportunity, and collective will converge. The world is watching – the curtain is rising on a new era of growth, peace, and prosperity.
This is the Plateau and the Cultural Middle-Belt’s moment. The future beckons.
